tripadvisorGreat way to spend a weekend. We enjoyed to wineries and restaurants. Easy walking distances and plenty to do and see. Definitely glad we did this.
MoreWe were picked up right on schedule, our guide was appropriately dressed and had a terrific attitude. The vehicle for our journey was new model Mercedes. Stephanie engaged us in conversation for the entire day, brought a terrific snack for us to have at the second stop. All in all we had a great day.
MoreBeing a wine lover, this was on my must do list when visiting Seattle. It's a quick ride out to the urban wineries in Woodinville and we were picked up and dropped off right at our hotel for this tour. Don't expect vineyards and grape vines; these are boutique wineries that make wine, and have tasting rooms, right outside the city. The mix of wineries was interesting but our favorites were the first and last places we visited, Lauren Ashton and Martedi. At Lauren Ashton we were treated to a sit down tasting and explanation of about 6 of their wines. At Martedi Winery we were entertained by one of the brothers, Joe, and he poured us a good variety of wines and told us some great stories about the wine and his family as well. The wines in between were a bit disappointing but we still had fun and met some interesting characters along the way. Stephanie Schrankel was our guide and she was a wonderful host and full of knowledge.
MoreWe hit a couple of the largest wineries in Woodinville, and found them pleasant, but the smaller places hit it out of the park! Up on Woodinville-Redmond Rd. you'll find many small tasting rooms supporting wineries in the wine growing region. Our fav was Airfield wines, but others are similarly entertaining with pleasant wines. It's always more pleasant, for us, to visit smallyer organizations. Often were talking with a member of ownership's family. If not family, it tends to be someone, really in love with wine and people and talking about wines, their winery and its history.
MoreThe town of Woodinville sets about 20 miles northeast of Seattle. Most of Washington's wineries are about a 3.5 hours drive over the mountains to the eastern boarder of the state. As a result, most of the state's wineries have establish tasting rooms in Woodinville, making Woodinville Washington’s premier wines tasting location. This is a great place to spend a few days and visit the wine tasting rooms! Also the place to stay is the Willows Lodge - Outstanding!!
