I took this tour about 5 years ago & it was just as good the 2nd time around and see what has changed. I was happy to have Paulette as my tour guide again. She is so knowledgeable about the area & it's history. It's really nice to have a good driver and be able to sit back and relax and see the sights from my hotel in Reno to Lake Tahoe & back. We made several stops along the way & got out & walked around. Beautiful photo opportunities! The 2 hour stop in historic Virginia City is nice. So many little shops, bars, restaurants, churches & more.

We were booked on a 20 passenger bus as part of our family reunion. We toured around Lake Tahoe, Carson City, and Virginia City. Our hosts were very informative of the history and culture of the areas. They were very accommodating of our needs and provided water and snacks. We had plenty of time in Virginia City to have lunch, do some shopping, and visit the historic sites.

I was lucky enough to catch this tour at the very last minute, technically the night before. I sent them an email very late the night before the tour and was surprised to get a response early that morning with pick-up information. Roger was there bright and early (before 8am) to pick me up from my hotel. He was very informative and knowledge of all things Nevada and beyond and a really decent driver as well. The bus ride was very comfortable and we had plenty opportunities to take beautiful scenic photos along lake tahoe and take bathroom breaks (when necessary). Roger even volunteered to take some individual and group photos of us near the lake. There was plenty of (free) snacks and bottles of water on the bus available for most of the trip. We passed through Truckee, Lake Tahoe (on the California side), Carson City, and Virginia City. We even had the opportunity to see the Cal Neva Lodge, the Moonlite Bunny Ranch (we passed on this one), Steve Wynn's old tahoe estate, the Governor's Mansion and many other cool places not mentioned on the website. We did stop for about two hours (I think) in Virginia City and received complementary lunch vouchers for The Palace Restaurant. The burgers (and the service) were amazing! I dare any of you to try the Garbage Truck Burger it looked awesome! I would highly recommend this tour to anyone living or visiting Reno Nevada. Friendly and knowledgeable driver, beautiful scenic route and free lunch at the Palace. My only suggestion is (and this is only my opinion alone) it would be nice to possibly include stops like the way it was museum and the Comstock Gold Mill (for instance) to add more to the experience.

I had booked a different tour from Reno to Lake Tahoe but it was cancelled due to the fact they didn’t allow individuals to participate. I found Sierra Comstock Tours and I am glad my other tour was cancelled. Paulette was wonderful and very knowledgeable about the history and the plants and animals that inhabit the area. We made several stops which was nice for all ages. Beautiful views and spectacular scenery. I plan on taking the tour again the next time I am in the area.

Its hard for me to offer my review because the lady driver and her assistant were very nice and the lady driver was very informative but I must give my true opinion on the tour and its not just mine, it was several other riders. First, 95 percent of the time the lady driver was giving us all the details as we passed by each point of interest with her taking either one hand or both hands off the steering wheel pointing and looking in the direction of what she wanted us to focus on which in some instances she would veer out of her lane getting super close to the barrier or over the white line and this was sometimes while being very high in the mountains. She also ran over one of the red cones put out by the construction workers. Many many times she was so close to the edges a lot of us got scared and were talking about it at lunch and couldn’t wait to get back to the pick up point. What needs to happen as with any tour, the driver should only focus on driving and an assistant should be the one doing the pointing, narrating, and providing the information to the tourists, not the driver. I feel sorry for the driver as she was doing it all...
