tripadvisorEasy walking trail to view a large number of African sculptures. Fascinating exhibit that is simple to access. I wish the sidewalk trail wasn't dotted with goose droppings (and the sculptures weren't spotted with them), but that's what you get when geese are all around. The exhibit had clear information posted throughout, with signs at each sculpture that told about the sculptor and the sculpture. Not to be missed.
MoreJust a short drive from the Benson Park Sculpture Garden, the Chapungu Sculpture Park is also worthy of visitors; attention when they are in the Loveland area. Chapungu celebrates the great stone sculptures of Africa. These are primarily realistic and abstract stone sculptures by artists from Zimbabwe. There are over 80 stone sculptures spread out over the 26-acre park display in clusters according to themes (family, love, etc,) The park is paved with an accessible trail that allows for up close interaction with most sculptures. It is easy to take photos. The park is free to access and seemed to be open at most times. There is nearby parking. It borders a shopping mall area on one side, so there is usually free off-street parking. Restrooms are also available. Most sculptures have identifying informational signs. This park is the largest displayed collection of these sculptures. It is just a unique, beautiful place to take a walk. The park was relatively quiet when we were there. It was nice not to have to fight crowds to se this exhibition.
MoreLots of interesting sculptures to see in a natural setting. Shady spots to sit. Easy parking and restrooms.
MoreBetween Thanksgiving and New Year's Day ( check for exact dates ) a portion in the north of the park is lit up with very nice lights. No charge but a can of food for the food bank is requested. Very nice.We just stayed in the part with the lights, but it looked like there were a couple of sculptures added in this part since our last visit
MoreSculptures are very expressive and tell stories of love, friendhip, life etc from an African perspective. Excellent platform to learn about Zimbabwean culture through their own gifted artists. Highly recommended
