Ootoya Times Square Sushi Restaurant ·$$$

Ootoya Times Square is the second outpost of its namesake chain in the city. This Japanese restaurant specializes in teishoku which is traditional home-style cuisine comprising of dishes made up of either meat or fish, miso soup, steamed egg custard and pickled vegetables. They are served in lovely lacquer ware and ceramics. Its serene ambiance is accentuated by the Ikebana arrangements at the entrance, while the miniature Japanese garden in the back is soothing to the eyes. Their food is prepared only after an order is placed to ensure freshness. Besides the teishoku, you can also order other items such as Breaded and Deep Silky Pork Loin Cutlet with Ponzu, Deep Fried Chicken with Mashed Potato and Vegetables, Demi Burger, Grilled Fish and Hot Pot. Complement your meal with either sake or shochu.

Great place. Food was amazing. The owner was very attentive. Food was original. Not the same thing. The restaurant is small. But cozy and comfortable.
