An absolute must see when visiting KC! Easy to get to, centrally located, it’s like stepping back in time visiting here. The station is grand and elegant and gives you the sense of how important railroads were in America’s past. The station has been updated and now houses several other experiences that visitors can pick and choose to elevate their visit to the station. Don’t miss this when you visit KC!

Immerse yourself in modern times all while taking an amazing step back into the past. The architecture of the building mixed with the history these halls hold is simply amazing. More than a train station, Union Station has displays from the past, a fully functional post office, an model train area ran by volunteers, an outdoor observatory bridge with views of the trains and tracks, and a science center for the kids not to mention the chocolate and coffee shops and restaurant and that's only the first floor! There's also a planetarium, movie theater, and, at the time of our visit, a special interactive exhibition on the Berlin Wall. A few helpful tips for visitors: (1) Take the free city tram as it leaves you right next to the station. (2) The security staff and amtrak police are both inside and outside Union Station so while there may be a homeless population around, there's no need to fret. (3) Give yourself plenty of time to explore. With so much to see and do, there is truly something for everyone here. We spent about 2 hours here and could have spent longer if we had decided to do any of the other activities. (4): FREE admission. While it may seem obvious, because there's so much to do here, it seems fair to point that out.

This was an Awesome trip. Union Station has so much history as well as the city of Kansas City. If you like barbecue, there are several spots to choose from. We tried Q39 barbecue and was not disappointed. Loved it.

Amazing old building to show history when trains ran all the time. Lots of big space. Hondas a planetarium, children science center, movie theatre and special exhibit it hall (currently Berlin). Didn’t see any of this. So do nit miss the amazing model trains at end of great hall. Not widely advertised. Free, donation accepted. Amazing trains. So cool. Kids will love. Could use more restaurants. Clean restrooms. Big KC gift shop Go up 3 floors and see history of building … signage and memorabilia. So cool Upstairs great view of city and WWI memorial. Very nice for history.
