tripadvisorThis was a great albeit small zoo. The inexpensive price reflects that, but don't let those statements fool you. There is a large variety of animals and the facility is well maintained and, in my opinion, very well designed. The large amount of tree cover over the walking paths makes the visit much more enjoyable. We attended early (first through the doors!) and were rewarded with active animals during the cool morning hours. Few things are more entertaining that hearing a Kookaburra welcome the morning or a lion roar and huff! We intentionally moved through the zoo causally and spent three hours there. No children were with us so we didn't take time for the carnival. Over all, we'd happily visit the zoo again.
MoreI cannot describe how much I love this zoo. It's the perfect size, very walkable, can easily be done in one day. But they have an exceptional variety of animals. All the employees are very knowledgeable and there's often interactive station set throughout the zoo where you can learn more about the animals. It's beautiful, the animals are treated so well, it just feels peaceful and lovely.
MoreA great little zoo with big cats, playful primates, many exotic birds, and more. Kids had a great time and provided about 2 hrs of fun. Petting zoo area. Wagon rental was $5 and held 2 kids with seatbelts—- worth it to not travel with our own stroller.
MoreFor a city that is the size of Idaho Falls, this is a very good zoo. It is almost entirely in the shade. A big majority of the animals are outside. Laid out such that it is easy to do the whole thing without much backtracking or just selected parts. Good variety of animals. Has a petting/feeding zoo area. Designed so strollers go through easily. There's only one lunch place - just open on weekends. Animal enclosures are well maintained. They've been improving over the years. We noticed that things have gotten modernized. We saw the whole zoo and spent just over an hour and a half. We did get to see a couple of baby animals.
MoreI never heard of a zoo charging tax before…it’s an Idaho thing. The zoo was small but nice. They had some good animals, a lion, tiger, gibbons (who were very playful and vocal), zebra, camels, Fenix foxes, snow leopard and more. The lion was prowling around not sleeping which was nice. The also have African penguins and we watched them being fed. We spent about 2 hours there going very slowly. They had benches in strategic places to watch the animals too which was nice. 1 ½ -2 hr is sufficient time to visit.
