One of my favorite WWII planes
Warhawk Air Museum Historical Museum ·$

History buffs should journey to Nampa, about 20 minutes west of Boise, to view this rare collection of artifacts from World War II. Old war planes, uniforms, cameras, photos, engines and more are on display. Visitors can also explore Japanese and German memorabilia. Some of the museum's planes were used for the film Pearl Harbor. Guided tours are available and usually last about an hour.

I do love warbird museums and this one is wonderful. A huge array of exhibits and personnel stories from who served and didn’t come home. Some pristine examples, still flying. You need a good few hours to do this place justice and am always happy to meet the people who keep these places going! Thank you

We visited the Warhawk Air Museum, 201 Municipal Drive, Nampa, ID 83687, Phone (208) 465-6446, on Friday, August 15, 2025. Six stars of five stars. The airplanes are neat and very well presented. HOWEVER, there are HUNDREDS of autobiographical and biographical notebooks available to read. These are the stories of Veterans written by the Veteran, by family members, or friends of the Veteran. I skim read a couple. As a career Naval Aviator, the son of a U.S. Army non-commissioned officer and a U.S. Navy WAVE, both WWII Veterans these notebooks struck hard and deep. My Dad was a Disabled Veteran with combat experience in both the Pacific as well as the European Theater where he was a member of the 101st Airborne Division. Mom was in Washington, D.C., most of the war and the west coast for a short time. These notebooks push the Warhawk Air Museum over the top. Now, the airplanes. There are numerous airplanes in the main hangar and they are very well documented, positioned for good photos in most cases. We got into the restoration hangar due to my Military service and were in awe at their work. Step away from the notebooks and the airplanes, there are quite a few displays presenting individuals or specific subjects. These, like the rest of the museum, are very well presented and informative. We were in the museum for about four hours and took about 230 photos and a few videos. The docents and staff at the museum were absolutely super and well versed about their artifacts. This is a great museum for all ages. If we are in the area again, it will be a necessary visit. Now I have a task, writing the biographies of my Father’s and Mother’s Military service and possibly of mine. Thanks,Rex

I think this would be a Must see. There was so much to see and read, we could have stayed for many hours. It covered history of the many wars this country was involved in.

Very nice museum. They had several really awesome exhibits but there is a lot of areas where it is reading material. We did not stay and read the books and notebooks that were available. We were there mostly to see the planes and other military displays which took us about 1 hour. The admission price is not very much which is a plus.

The staff was very nice. One volunteer walked around with us for over an hour showing and explaining things to us. Most of the displays are inside with a few jets outside. Beside the planes they have tons of exhibits that are well laid out and labeled. If you enjoy planes and military history it’s a great place to go. All of their historic planes are in flyable condition. There was a school group there when we were there and the museum had them organized well with their volunteers.
