The Silo City is actually a collection of three grain elevators called Peavey Elevator, Genesee Brewing Elevator and the Marine "A" Elevator. These were used during the 20th Century for carrying grains and storing them in the adjoining mammoth size containers or Silos (hence the name). The might of these structures leave onlookers awestruck and they have been preserved immaculately to let the young generation admire this ancient feat of engineering. In addition to the earlier mentioned elevators, the site is also home to the Elevator B; this is a 22 feet (6 meter) tall beehive. This site has been an iconic part of the culture of the city and today it is used as a venue for many local events.

tripadvisorDefinitely check out the amazing piece of Buffalo NY history. The tour is the only way to see everything up close and safely. The inside of the structures are industrial art dreams come true. The details provided by our highly educated guide Gretchen were given with touches of humor. The lessons are only dwarfed by the impressive structures themselves. I’m so happy that we selected this tour and highly recommend to everyone. Remember to wear appropriate shoes and take many pictures as you walk the property. Fantastic afternoon!!
MoreGreat tour of the Worlds largest concentration of old grain elevators, both inside and out! Our guide, Don, worked in one of the grain elevators for many years so was very knowledgeable. The walking part was not strenuous. Highly recommended!!!
MoreIt was very clear from the beginning of this tour that the guide, Larry, has deep knowledge and connections to Silo City's ecosystem of people and buildings. His passion is on full display and he tells the area's history through stories, including of people who have taken his tours who once worked in the silos processing grain! The tour is a nice, solid length and full of photo opportunities. I learned a lot, and I'm very glad I did it.Whether you're visiting Buffalo for the first time or have learned here all your life, it's well worth checking out!
MoreWhat a fantastic place and Larry, our tour guide did such a great job. The stories he told were fantastic and memorable. I would do the Silo City Vertical tour in a heartbeat again. Our group was small and some of the people in our group had family that worked at the grain facility we toured.
MoreHighly recommend going on the Silo City Vertical Tour! Roger was a great tour guide who really knew his stuff! Learned a lot about the history of Buffalo and the Silos, and the views of the city from the top of the silos were fantastic. Definitely worth a visit!
