THIS THEATER DOES NOT CARE ABOUT ITS PATRONS OR THE PEOPLE WHO PERFORM THERE. A recent musical production has now become a Covid super-spreader because the ED and production staff did not demand people wear masks and use all precautions. Now many of the cast and patrons have tested positive for covid. Shame on you. Shame on ED Christina Belknap for letting this happen.

The Lincoln Theater occupies a key position in the life of the Town of Damariscotta and the surrounding communities. It functions as a movie theater showing a selection of important and popular current films as well as many independent films and art films. It presents operas by the NY Metropolitan Opera and plays by the National Theatre of London. It presents local productions by both adult and children's companies. It serves as a venue for poets, speakers, and musicians. It is available for use by other town organizations and groups. It truly is a hub of activity for the area. The Lincoln has some assistance devices for use by the hearing impaired and sometimes features closed captioning for films at special showings. It is well supported by the community. Over the past decade, donations have enabled significant improvements and restoration of the theater including new seating, air conditioning, and many repairs. Depending on what month of the year you visit Damariscotta, you will find different activities going on there. The staff and Board of Directors are open to suggestions for new opportunities for how the Theater can fulfill its mission of being more than just a movie house. (Although that's an important part of its role.) I miss the old days when we gobbled our popcorn sweltering in July as fans spun overhead and open doors allowed a breeze to come in to cool off at least the first few rows of seating. So do visit the Lincoln. Fresh buttery popcorn and Milk Duds await you. For special events, baked goods, cider, or wine may await you.

During Pumpkinfest, we saw a fabulous magic show in this historic theater. It is very well-run and maintained. Prices are amazing and the snack bar is top rate. Be sure to patronize small community businesses such as this before we have no options!!!

This is a lovely, local theater with a variety of entertainment. While spending time in Damariscotta in May, it was recommended we check out the events in case it peaked our interest. We attended the DaPonte String Quartet concert. It was very pleasant, affordable and well attended by locals. There is plenty of parking available behind the building with a variety of restaurants within a short walking distance. Definitely check it out.
