A developer tore down a whole neighborhood to build high-rises. Thank goodness they saved a few bungalows. The bars are pretty cheesy, but Bangers is good!

In just 2 short years, with the rapid development happening in Austin, the Rainey Street that once was is no more. What had become the hippest bar hopping street in Austin has been taken over by condominiums with only a handful of bars remaining. Banger's is still a great place to eat and drink but the rest of the street is a shadow of what it was not long ago.

found one restaurant but couldn't find anything else worth looking at. the street was very short and in an obscure place

Might as well have gone to Los Angeles or San Francisco. Homeless, trash and graffiti all over the place. Went to Rainey Street was was so disappointed. Was there 4 years ago it was great. The country feel is gone and high rises all around. The only good place was the Hyatt Regency. Great service and clean.
