tripadvisorWe passed a delightful three hours at this museum and only made it through two exhibits: they had a special exhibit of “Best In Show” Indian art pieces from contests going back to the early 1920’s. Exquisite sculpture, pottery, bead work, and metal/silver made by some of the best American Indian artists of all time; and they have a large permanent exhibit that gives you a real historical sense of the various tribal cultures throughout North America, especially the Southwestern U.S. The works on display are beautiful and beautifully displayed. They have numerous videos that mainly consist of selected artists discussing assorted themes related to their lives and/or working methods. All were absorbing. We had a great time!
MoreVery nice museum. It was the only museum we visited while at Museum Hill. We were there about 2 hours. Wish we had time to visit some of the other nearby museums.I can't tell you which museums to visit but try one.
MoreThis was our first visit to the museum. Put this on your must do list for Santa Fe. There is so much to see and learn. Don't miss any of the videos offered. To see the work, time and detail that goes into each piece whether it's weaving or pottery or any other piece of art, you come away in awe of the craftsmanship of the ancient to the modern. Each room has wonderful exhibits. Take the time to read information provided. The history of such amazing and beautiful people is important to know. It's a museum not to miss.
MoreThis museum had some original and interesting exhibits on. a subject matter that represents the region. Well-organized and of a manageable size. They also have a good gift shop.
MoreThe museum has a number of exhibits with pottery, weaving, a large teepee, etc. There are also quite a few interesting videos. We watched one and wished we had had more time to watch a couple of others too. The only downside was the parking. The day we went, the relatively small parking lot was full with several cars circling and the overflow lot was closed.
