tripadvisorYou will get a lot of historical facts about trains in Tomball, and even the possibility of entering a caboose.
MoreWe were looking for something fun to do on mothers day after a meal, and decided to take a look at the old railroad depot museum in Tomball. The building was built in 1901 I think, and they have preserved it really well. It's small (4 rooms), but full of old relics and photos, and the folks who work there can fill you in on a lot of fun history! This museum is FREE also! One room boasts a huge model railroad (small scale) with tons of things to look at and explore. Kids would love it, as there are several hidden dinosaurs to find! Really a fun museum. There is an old train car out front that we did not look at because my mother is elderly and there was no way she could get into it. The museum is ADA compliant and provides easy access for walkers and wheelchairs.
MoreThe Depot has a large Z-scale layout that runs 6 trains simultaneously. The layout is an 18-year labor of love by David George and has been nationally recognized and rewarded. The landscaping is exceptional. A three-train Lionel layout is in the caboose with landscaping also done by David George.
MoreLove the little red engine. A great photo opportunity on the red train. Quaint area of Tomball, very family friendly.
MoreNot a lot to do within the immediate park area, but my daughter really enjoyed climbing up on the caboose and acting as if she was travelling by rail. Easy to get to and plenty of parking.restaurants also very close by
