tripadvisorJust a couple of days before my visit to Rosemary Cemetery I became aware of the remarkable life of Harry Lee Higel - a great local entrepreneur who was cruelly murdered in 1921 by an unknown person. Despite being an Australian and knowing nothing about the previous history, Harry Higel provided a portal to the fascinating history of Sarasota and especially Siesta Key. The more one looks in Rosemary Cemetery the more history one finds including the Gillespies, the Brownings, etc. For those who want to become immersed in Sarasota history, I would thoroughly recommend the Rosemary Cemetery.
