Huenke Park is a nice green space set in southwest Lubbock. The park has three different memorials, all visually stimulating and are a good mix of history and beauty. The Veterans Memorial pays tribute to people who have participated in the armed services. Meanwhile, there is a statue depicting Willie McCool who was a pilot for NASA who died in the Space Shuttle Columbia after carrying out numerous experiments in space. The third monument is actually a fountain which features varying colored lights at night for a pleasant sight.
