On my recent visit to the Great Plains including Iowa, one of the things I wanted to see was the Episcopal Cathedrals. In many ways, this church reminded me of Trinity Cathedral in Omaha. It is a 19th century Gothic stone church with an exposed wood beam ceiling. However, its interior was not as grand and ornate as Trinity. I learned that St. Paul's only recently became the operational Iowa Cathedral. The historic cathedral is in Davenport on the Mississippi River in the east, kind of like Nebraska.With all that said, this church is a great downtown church with a beautiful interior. The highlight is the sanctuary with a beautiful wooden carved alter. While small, the church also has some great stained glass windows as well. Finally, the staff could not have been nicer and more proud of their church. I was very grateful to them for opening up their building for me.
