Generous amount of funding was put into remodelling the 1913 elementary school and 1925 high school that stood where Old School Square now exists. The Cornell Museum, Crest Theatre and Vintage Gymnasium are all located within the historic downtown Delray Beach. A wide array of visual and performing arts can be taken in at this venue, rendering it a popular gathering place in the southern part of the county. Check website for more information.

tripadvisorWe used to attend the Crest Theater many times over the course of the year, often spending the afternoon in town shopping, and then having dinner in one of the many restaurants in town. Now that the theater has closed, we rarely bother to come into town except for an occasional trip to the Arts Garage. It’s too bad. Without the theater, the classes, and the art museum Delray seems to be a tourist destination devoid of any soul.
MoreReally used to like this place pre-covid- show was cancelled which s understandable but now almost two yearslater no courstesy phone call or e-mail to let us know whenrecheduled and no refund after atLEAST THREE phone calls FURTHERMORE SOME ONE HACKED THEIR E-MAIL so beware- I now get supposed e-mails from them to open a zipfile called then twice to alert them to this and no response.
MoreThis is a fun area. The old school square has many concerts and local activities. Over Christmas there is a huge Christmas tree nearby. We also enjoy the pinball museum nearby. It seems like there is a lot more happening in Delray then West Palm Beach in comparison.
MoreStill on now. Beautiful art in glass, photography, jewelry, wood turning and canvas , etc. Wonderful displays
MoreThis old school and its campus have been reborn as a facility to show off theatre, art, performances, etc. Many of them can be viewed in the open air Crest theatre. There is an art museum and an art school onsite We would love to see an intimate performance in the theatre or a poetry reading in one of the small lecture halls. The architecture is old Mediterranean and it has been well restored. It is located very close to the beginning of the restaurant row in downtown Delray Beach to make a day or night of it.
