This joint rules the Twin City music scene. As a converted bus depot, the large two-story room offers excellent acoustics and sight lines. If live music is on the agenda, get there early and grab a table on the balcony. The music runs the gamut from reggae to punk to rock to country. If a local or national act is not scheduled to play, a DJ takes over and gets the dance floor jumping. Pool tables, pinball machines or video games offer quieter amusement.

tripadvisorExtremely disappointed with First Avenue. As a loyal patron who has been coming here for years, I was kicked out last night and repeatedly lied to about why—getting completely different excuses from staff members. Security was on an absolute power trip with zero accountability or professionalism. Neither I nor my friends will ever return. Unacceptable way to treat long-time supporters.
MoreWhat a great venue, and the staff were all very welcoming and helpful. I requested ADA accommodations and was surprised to see a seat with my name on it. That's such a huge deal for people who need accomodations and go to shows alone; that way if you need to go to the bathroom you don't lose your seat. Absolutely top notch!
MoreOne of the best music venues in the country and we are fortunate to have it here in the Twin Cities. Great sightlines, amazing sound quality and always an electric energy inside. No matter the band, fans of all ages from 18-70 inside which is always amazing. Don't miss seeing a show in here if you think wrongly that you have to be under 40 to not be out of place in here. If you have GA and are short like me, it is best to arrive soon after doors if you want to snag some of the coveted spots that provide some elevation and less obstructed views.
MoreFirst Avenue one of the co-stars of the movie Purple Rain made famous by Prince in the movie Purple Rain. TBH this venue is great for live music or even dance parties, but the movie Purple Rain put it on the map. I may have never seen Prince perform here and had never even been inside of here until after Prince passed away, but since 2017 I have been to a couple of dance parties and seen a couple of shows, all Prince related including seeing The Revolution here on the 40th anniversary of the movie Purple Rain. It’s nice to see some of the artists who have performed here over the years on the stars outside on the wall. Great that they also moved The Revolution’s star next to the Prince star. Go see a show here when you get a chance.
MoreI haven't been in 29ish years. The bass is still amazing. I can't wait to go back this summer. Would have loved more balcony seating ticket options, for us older kids.
