tripadvisorI saw one of the cabaret shows featuring the music of Johnny Mercer and Harlod Arlen. The artists consisted of a piano, bass, drums, and 3 singers. They put their hearts into each song they performed. The show was one of the highlights of my weekend at the Crown Center. Special thanks to the box office staff and to the bartender. They made me feel like I was a preferred customer, and I could tell that they made each of their customers feel preferred.
MoreWe've been members of Musical Theater Heritage (AKA, MTH) since we moved to Kansas City a few years ago. The venue focuses mostly on the American musical theater scene over the past 100 years. Each year has a mix of Broadway and off-Broadway shows and theme nights focusing on a particular style of music. Season tickets go fast, so for the best experience, order early. In the fall and spring, they hold fund raising events which are the main way the theater promotes their education program. Our daughter has participated in nearly a dozen over the past few years, and this year's highlight was one focusing on theater design and stage management. We've become such regulars that the MTH team even let her help out backstage during a performance. It is a superb venue, and there's not a bad seat in the house. Well worth the price of admission to see some of the best regional actors around.
MoreThis was a one man play which is based on the life of a real person. Even if you aren't Italian, Jewish, or in therapy you will think of yourself or people you know and laugh. The seats are large enough for you and your bulky coat and blanket. It sometimes is cool in there but they have blankets at the seating entrance if you need one.
MoreOur friends invited us to see a lady perform some broadway songs, just her and a mic up on stage, at the MTH Theater. It sounded fun, so we went. It's a very nice theater. We saw her in the smaller theater, but the venue also has a larger theatre too, where you can see big shows, like broadway type shows. Next month the mainstage is showing Ragtime. The seats in the smaller theater were comfortable and were slightly sloped down towards the stage so everyone could still have a nice view. The lobby is nice too with a bar that serves cocktails. There is plenty of parking in the garage for Crown Center, and overall this is a very nice venue.
MoreThis is a wonderful venue for theater. The seats are comfortable, with cup holders, and lots of legroom. We knew most of the story about Nelly Donnelly but it was fun to see it come to life. The acting and songs were super. An over-the -top performance all the way from the writers to the actors. For an all new musical it really hit the mark. Out of 10 this is a 12. Don't forget to bring in your parking ticket for validation. This is a don't miss opportunity.
