tripadvisorCould not recommend this B and B highly enough. We stayed 2 nights as part of our larger adventure through Alaska. First, the home itself is a beautifully decorated Craftsman with comfortable furnishings, gorgeous woodwork and art, and cozy feel. It's immaculately clean. Having access to laundry was perfect for us to freshen up after some days of travel and hiking. Chatting with other guests during breakfast was nice, and at night all was quiet and the beds comfortable. Carly was a wonderful host and took such good care of us. When my husband and his friend found out their camping gear had gotten soaked through during travel, Carly offered up the garage space to air things out which was so appreciated! The breakfasts are great - boiled eggs, homemade yogurt, cereals, fresh fruit, delicious local coffee, and always something homemade like muffins or sweetbreads. I had an early flight out and Carly made sure I had a to go breakfast for my way to the airport. She really goes that extra mile to make sure her guests are comfortable.
MoreI’m not a big fan of b&b’s, but the Parkside is outstanding. This craftsman style facility is a beauty: all the furniture is Stickley, the detail to decor is carefully planned. The room we had was very spacious and had an excellent bathroom. The hostess is Carly, a terrific person who makes all the breakfast foods from scratch: yogurt, granola, muffins, scones, jams. She keeps the house in immaculate condition. I will stay here again when I come to Anchorage.
MoreOutstanding experience and we highly recommend. We actually did 2 stays - one night when we 1st arrived in Anchorage, and then 2 nights a few day later after we returned from Seward before heading to Juneau. Both rooms were exceptional and very large! The woodwork was amazing! I was disappointed that we didn't have free time to just sit and enjoy the beautiful sitting room. Carly is an outstanding host. She regularly checked our schedule and accommodated breakfast to meet the guests needs including packing a to-go for our early day. The breakfasts were always fresh - fresh fruit fresh pastry, etc. You could feel that she treated everyone like family, even talking about the flowers in the yard with us. She provided dining recommendations, made shopping recommendations for another group and shared tips for our trips/drives. I'm not sure we will ever make it back to Anchorage, but we wouldn't hesitate to stay here again. Highly recommend.
More5. This place is a real gem. It has the charm and beauty of a European guest house in down town Anchorage. We were greeted each day with delicious fresh breakfasts, tailored to our food preferences. Advice for daily activities was helpful and conversations at the shared breakfast space were relaxed, enjoyable and educational. Parkside is affiliated with Camp Denali. I would recommend both venues for an Alaskan stay.
MoreWe've stayed here a number of times - time to write a review:When I travel I look for beauty and education, in lodging as well as activities. I happen to love and appreciate the elegance and functionality of Craftsman homes. This one is NOT pompous as noted in one review; it is understated and lovely throughout. All through Covid Carley persevered in reminding us to put on our masks - annoying at times, but necessary and medically appropriate (we're both physicians). The house is always fresh and immaculate and breakfasts are perfect - I prefer high quality continental breakfasts to copious piles of heavy fare. The location is very convenient.
