Reviews
tripadvisorThere are KEEP OUT signs all over the building and one door has a condemned notice on it from the City of Akron. No lights on, totally dark. Lobby doors were locked and no one around. From the outside - cement is falling off the sides of the upper floors onto the ground and plaza below. It looks unmaintained for years on the outside, a lot of windows are hazed over or broken. Through the windows you can see the curtains falling off their rods or just missing altogether. Old cardboard boxes piled up in front of windows in other rooms. Garage attendants admitted they haven't seen anyone there in months - guests or staff. Its café on the plaza is closed. Pretty much just an abandoned building right now, doesn't look like there's any renovation work going on. Old mattresses and beat up furniture are on one side where people from the other office buildings go to smoke. I checked in at another hotel and the staff there has no idea what's going on with the Rodeway Inn. One suggested it's been slated for demolition.
MoreWe come to Akron once a year and always stay here. It has had a new name almost every year...but for the money you always get a clean room and friendly service. We will continue to stay here. I always read the other reviews and am surprised at what people seem to expect at this price point. I would recomend
MoreI stayed at this hotel 2 weeks ago. I was a little nervous based on some of the previous reviews but I couldn't beat the price. I have to say, I appreciate the hotels frankness. They were honest about the pool, restaurant, fitness center on the website and when I checked in, the desk agent told me that was the reason they had dropped their prices. My room was clean, everything worked and I saved a lot of money. I would say, give this hotel a try. No frills, dated but I only needed a place to sleep while I was visiting my son who attends U of Akron.
MoreI called 2 weeks prior to my stay and the hotel lost my reservation and really wasn't willing to help out. The manager told me he would call me back by the end of the day Friday never called me back when I called Monday I couldn't get a hold of the same person and some other guy called back. I read the reviews and saw it wasn't a nice place to stay but I figured it would be a cheap place to lay my head but I guess not.
MoreRodeway Inn was Akron City Center Hotel in Feb 2016. Hotelsone.com was the big problem. My phone call to ACC Hotel, a 24 hour desk was (intercepted) by Hotelsone.com. While ACC Hotel had timely refunds, my receipt from Hotelsone.com came back (NON-REFUNDABLE). The fight was on. Citicard kept the billing alive until June 30. Hotelsone.com said conditions were not met by me even though I never had received them until Citicard provided them. Eventually I timely cancelled my hotel stay. Went to beautiful Comfort Inn, Hartville. ACC Hotel/now Rodeway cooperated just fine
