✨ One of the BEST experiences we’ve had in the Santa Cruz area! ✨ Chris Johnson GlassJay and I went glassblowing today at Chris Johnson Glass in Davenport, CA, and I honestly can’t say enough wonderful things about the experience.First of all… we were over 30 minutes late to our class because we got lost. We felt terrible and were fully prepared to just donate our tickets back rather than inconvenience anyone. But Chris was incredibly kind and simply told us, “Come on, we’ll wait for you.” That generosity set the tone for the entire experience.From the moment we arrived, it felt less like taking a class and more like hanging out with family while learning something amazing.Emily jumped right in and started explaining everything to us while Chris was helping another couple. Both of them made us feel completely welcome and comfortable.Chris is incredibly knowledgeable and experienced, but what really makes the experience special is the way he teaches. He’s patient, charismatic, encouraging, funny, and clearly loves what he does. He gives you the opportunity to actually participate and create something yourself, while stepping in with expert hands when you need a little extra help — which I definitely did! Jay created an absolutely beautiful sphere with a galaxy inside , and I made a glass mushroom — with quite a bit of help from Chris on mine! Watching molten glass turn into something we actually created was fascinating.And can we talk about the music?! Great taste in music made an already amazing atmosphere even better.Another huge plus for us: Chris let Jay and me take pictures throughout the experience, so we were able to capture not only what we made, but the process and memories behind it. ❤️If you’re visiting Santa Cruz, Davenport, or anywhere along the coast and are looking for something unique and memorable to do, put Chris Johnson Glass on your list. This is a must do one of a kind experience I just can’t emphasize this enough!! Chris and his apprentice Tyler were welcoming, informative and knowledgeable in the art of glass blowing. The overall experience makes your piece unique and one of a kind to cherish for years to come. My husband and I did this for our 10th anniversary and we absolutely love our masterpieces. I would highly recommend this experience to everyone it’s unforgettable. I’d also recommend going for the extra dichromatic glass (iridescent glitter) which adds a beautiful mystic enchantment to your piece it’s absolutely stunning and gorgeous as it reflects the light. We had an incredibly wonderful time. Chris was patient, kind and made the class lots of fun. Definitely going back for the glass pumpkin class!

After our paperweight-making excursion, we booked a holiday ornament making session with some friends. Each of us got to make two ornaments - one style with Tyler and another style with Chris. They work really hard to make the whole process fun and accessible. We had a marvelous time. We may make this an annual tradition!

We had never done anything like this and had a marvelous time. Tyler was a fantastic teacher/assistant - patient and knowledgeable - and we are both extremely pleased with our first projects. We are planning to return -with friends in tow- for the holiday ornament making in November.
