Himmel Park was voted Best Playground in Tucson by the readers of the Tucson Weekly, and with some justification. The park actually has three playgrounds. The westside section, near the pool, contains the toddlers' structure with beginner's slides and swings; then, there's more swings and the popular Giganto Slide of Death for the bigger kids, while the northeast side features a big climbing structure with several platforms and even more swings. All areas have lots of sand and picnic areas around them. Keep this place in mind if you're traveling with two-10 year olds.

tripadvisorI liked the Himmel Park. There were many palm trees and there are trees. There is a playground. They play softball and football. After sports, kids can go to the library to find a book. Worthwhile to see!
MoreThe Himmel Park had hue trees. I walked amidst palm trees on both sides. Wow! There was baseball, soccer. I liked that park. I will remember these trees!
MoreUnfortunately, many parks in Tucson have a homeless population living in them. Himmel is no exception, but their presence is minimal. Himmel is always very active with Tucsonans playing and spending time. Sometimes there are food trucks, but if not, there is an Eegees and Baskin Robbins in short walking distance. Himmel is beautiful with tons of trees and grass. Great for tennis, swimming, and soccer.
MoreAs an alt day to the gym, I loop this park twice. Very clean, no undesirables in view. Small library in one corner of the park.Restrooms and fountains available.
MoreNice, good sized park by the U of A. Lots of green space with plenty to do (swimming, tennis, walking, ...). I have gone a few time just to walk around.
