Matt's Saloon Bar & Pub ·$$

Matt's Saloon is one of the many historic bars along Montezuma Street or more affectionately known as 'Whiskey Row'. Here, the cold beer, free-flowing whiskey and convivial atmosphere make it one of the most happening bars on the row. Since the 1960's this bar has entertained a countless number of patrons, and with live music almost every night it is no surprise that the bar is always packed.

We stopped in here for a drink after dinner and met so many friendly people. It has a great atmosphere. And is a must do when you’re on Whiskey Row.

We stopped for drinks and to listen to the band. The bar and town were gearing up for the 4th of July Rodeo. They were hosting a fund raiser for the Granite Mountain Hot Shoot Center. Lots of people watching and good music

One of the coolest things about this saloon is that they put the band up in the balcony, so there is plenty of room for drinking and dancing! The atmosphere here is great! Bartenders never let you get thirsty. Highly recommend Matt's Saloon!

Just a Few Beers - Before the Music In October, while my wife had several business meetings, I got to tour Prescott. Though I had been there before, this was the first full, and official exploration of the quaint town. On Whiskey Row, I encountered Matt’s Saloon, which piqued my interest. The signage alone, called out to me, but they were closed. I spent the day in and around Prescott, and later, as I was about to head back to our hotel, on the edge of town, once more passed Matt’s - and they had just opened. Now, Matt’s is a saloon, but mostly a music venue - hence the later hours, than most bars and restaurants along Whiskey Row. I was much too early for the music, but did have time to drop in for a few beers. Now, the official name is “Matt’s Longhorn Saloon,” and its right in the middle of the famous Prescott Whiskey Row, across from the Yavapai Courthouse and it’s park. The building edifies the establishment - in what was once the D. Levy Building, a mercantile store. It opened as Matt’s in the 1960's, and is still typified as a “honky tonk.” I was amazed by the list of some of the famous performers, who had graced Matt’s, and the bartender was quick to share some of the storied history with me. Such a neat place, and along with those brews, I got a history lesson as a bonus. Great, friendly service, and in these times, my server was masked. All too soon, I had to head back to the hotel, to shower and get ready to take my wife, and a colleague to dinner, but made myself a promise to return to Matt’s, on the next trip.
