I was pleasantly surprised by the EconoLodge in Albuquerque, NM! The rooms looked modern, the microwave was big enough to cook for a small army, and the refrigerator could probably hide a small person (or at least all my road-trip snacks). The heating system? Quiet, efficient, and basically whispering sweet nothings at me while I was relaxing.I came to explore Old Town, and yes, I might have wished for a slightly more central location and maybe an even fancier hotel — but honestly, this place proves that budget can be brilliant. Kudos to management: you’re clearly building the new generation of awesome budget hotels! Now, the pillows. Oh, the pillows. They are currently suited for an ostrich — a majestic, long-necked bird. For those of us with regular human necks, they are high, hard, and challenging. Minor complaint compared to everything else, but please, dear EconoLodge, work on those pillows — my neck would thank you.Otherwise, this was a surprisingly comfy, modern, and convenient stay. I will recommend it to my friends and colleagues. Thank you for showing that budget doesn’t have to mean boring!

Terrible hotel for families. Walls are very thin, so if you have neighbors that are fighting, crying or having sex, you hear everything, which we did on all accounts. The pool is very dirty. The beds are worn out and pillows are hard. Location could be considered unsafe, as the front desk kept the front door locked past 7pm. There are security cameras EVERYWHERE. That could be a considered a positive or a warning sign. The only bright spot was a pretty good breakfast for the price.

Where to begin? The poor clerk was having computer issues all weekend and had one heck of a time checking my Mom in on 6/2. We got to the room and the thermostat is set at 75 and won't change. Apparently the fancy new thermostat is so complicated, you have to have an employee come and change it. The phone was dead. The light switch outside the bathroom is broken and you have to punch it to turn the light on. The shower head is either broken or non-existent because water rushes out everywhere. No mat in the tub. It was wrapped up in the corner of the bathroom and looked as if it was very old. The one bright spot - the beds were comfortable. Overall, I do not recommend this place.
