I frequently stay in hotels as I travel a lot for work. I evaluate any hotel/motel I stay in independently based on the circumstances of the stay. I differentiate and change my expectations when I am staying in a budget room (Econo Lodge) to get.a few hours of sleep before continuing to drive versus when I book a fountain facing suite at the Bellagio......but in spite of that this exceeded my expectations.I have (literally) slept in a rice patty in Korea and had a better experience than a night at the Econo Lodge Albuquerque East. I booked a room here as a quick overnight stop on a road trip with the family and picked this location because it was on the edge of ABQ and right off the free-way with the intention of stopping for the night, getting some sleep, and then heading out in the morning to continue out trip. My expectations were basic - a clean room, clean linen, functional refrigerator, electricity, air conditioning, etc. What I got was a post-apocalyptic hellscape that could have been taken straight off the set of a Resident Evil movie or Fallout Episode. The building looked like it should have been condemned. There were wires hanging out of some of the walls outside. Covers from old AC units on the sidewalk. Trash blown against the wall. An assortment of lock types and doors on some of the rooms that appeared to have been forced open. The office was in shambles with the foyer looking like a looted storage room of construction materials and spare parts.Walking to the room was like wading through a sea of the undead. I am not sure if the city pays them to house homel3ss, illegal immigrnts, or long term low income housing that's how looked . Once we got inside our room it became apparent that this room hadn't been cleaned or serviced - I don't mean after the last guest, I mean possibly ever. The floor was dirty, the furniture was dirty, the bathroom looked like the bathroom of a bombed out subway station that had been abandoned years ago. The sheets were stained, the coverlet was nasty and about as thin as the sheet and the refrigerator looked like it hadn't worked in years. Half the outlets didn't work, the lamp shades looked like they had been pulled from a dumpster, and even the walls had stains ........if it was late and I hadn't already paid I would have left immediately, however, since we just intended to sleep for a few hours we stayed, skipping a shower - showering there probably would have resulted in being less clean than before.... like bathing in the East River. Then we tried to turn in for a few hours of sleep. That's when the adventure began....through the paper thin walls we could hear people in the next room. It sounded like they were packing bricks of dr#gs and duct taping the packages....or maybe wrapping a body. There would be noise and discussion, then the sound of duct tape being unrolled and ripped..... this went on from about 11:30 at night till 1:00 in the morning. Then it got really exciting.....a woman next door (same room) start screaming about where the f$*% is it and that the cops were coming and about every 20-30 minutes there was another episode of the unhinged and psychotic going on next door. We were hoping the cops would come just to deal with whoever was next door so we could sleep or leave without getting caught in the crossfire. I even considered calling the cops or the front desk myself but didn't want the psycho showing up at our room once they left. Please read the reviews before you book here. Apparently this used to be a decent Econo some number of years ago but now unless you want to stay in a trap house ran by Tren de Aragua then don't stay here. You would be better staying anywhere - your car, under a bridge, or a rest area- instead of at this Econo Lodge.Bar none one of the worst places I have ever slept. There are places I have slept in Iraq and Afghanistan that I would pick to sleep in again over this place. I gave two stars for location cause it is close to I-40 and 1 star overall because Google won't let you go negative.Rooms1.0Service1.0Location2.0Rooms Possibly have never been cleaned. A likely Petri dish for staph, tetanus, or worse......if we have Ebola in the States you would find it somewhere like this.Nearby activities Suspected d&#g / m3th cooking & dealing, homeless / illegal immigrant housing, g@ng w@rfare, psychotic cr@#k wh*&es.Safety I would feel better and safer in Beirut or the streets of Guadalajara, if not Baghdad..... than at this place. Would not recommend going without a PSD or police escort.Walkability Only if you have a d3@th wish.......you would be safer picking a random color red or blue and walking the streets of south central flashing hundreds than being safe walking here.Food & drinks I wouldn't eat or drink anything from here unless your shots and v vaccinations are up to date and you already have poison control on standby and a doctor's appointment scheduled.Noteworthy detailsThis property gives you the feel of being in a third world country in a post-apocalyptic world without having to leave the US.

The outside atmosphere is alarming already with the strong stench of feces. But I tried to give it the benefit of the doubt because a hotel can’t be held responsible for its location. When I get my room and turn it he light on instantly roaches scatter. I knew I couldn’t stay in that room as the sheets were also stained and had cigarette burns in them. I go to the front desk and ask for a new room and they say that they can’t because they’re full. I show the woman the video of roaches scattering and she puts me in a room on the 2nd floor. I turn on the light and another roach. At this point I ask for a refund but of course they’re non-refundable. Perfect since the Google pics look nothing like the actual hotel. Never stay here.

I booked the room on 26th of May. The room wasn’t cleaned up after previous guest and the window was broken so I asked a different room but they said they had none. I said I have no other choice but going elsewhere. They promised me to give me a refund but they never did. Thieves!

The room is nasty dirty. Burn marks on the furniture. The room smelled of marijuana.lamps falling off the walls. One of the shades looks like it was melted. Totally ran down. Definitely is not worth $90. More like $20. We couldn’t get our money back so had to stay since we couldn’t afford to go else where the tv doesn’t even have a clear picture. Dogs barking in the room below us. Bad place don’t stay here!!

Pros: there's a bed. And a toilet. And fun artwork. And a waffle.Cons: Everything else. Bed sheets had not been changed. There seriously was a poop stain on the sheets with hair in the first room we tried. Changed to another room - also dirty sheets. Staff said he'd get us new sheets. Got a fitted one that didn't fit and then never brought the top sheet to us. cigarette burns on the blankets and the pillows and bedding smelled like smoke. Fire alarm went off at 5AM, could hear people talking almost the whole night. Very dirty. Wouldn't walk barefoot in this place. Towels stained and not clean. Bug on my breakfast plate. Cinnamon toast crunch or cinnamon toast crunch with your waffles. This $80 room should have been a $20 room. I'll NEVER stay here again.
