You will inevitably enjoy and delight in the discovery that Jackalope, a Santa Fe landmark, is more than just a store. This open-air, international marketplace is a festival of sights, sounds and merchandise. South American Tapestries, Mexican pottery, clothing, rustic furniture and garden accessories are among the selection you can purchase. From noon to 3 p.m. daily, there are live entertainers and you can grab a bite to eat at the Jackalope Cafe.

We started shopping for gifts at the old location downtown well before we moved to Santa Fe. When Jackalope moved to the Cerrillos Rd location, we found many great items for our new home and we continued to bring visitors to shop. Sadly, new owners took over a few years ago and took away all the charm. The cats who supervised the Mercado were removed, the prairie dogs disappeared overnight and their habitat bulldozed to make way for more pots! Although colorful, there are now more pots than will ever sell. Jackalope now looks like any other place full of Mexican imports and no longer offers a unique experience. And, what happened to the doves? Only a few of the original vendors have remained, but for how much longer? We now shop elsewhere and take visitors to Madrid.

We enjoyed speaking to the employees tonight, Cesar, near the woven plates, is a very helpful man, polite and knowledgeable. He is from Guatemala and has learned our language, the register and handling money. He smiles and assisted us in every way we needed. We went home with two platos, fabulous. Kudos for learning so much. Also, spoke with Tony by the Zapotec rugs, etc. We purchased one 4 years ago, the owners are the Martinez’s very nice people and fair in their pricing. Tony is one of our local artists, perfect for this position. One thing I would consider is displaying the Mexican wares very distcnctly so the customers can see them. I’m always looking for items that have less patterns. Quality products, for sure.Thank you men for helping, informing and being so pleasant!MCH - former Host/Floor Mgr. for Clint EastwoodPBH - former Head Pro/GM for Pebble Beach

Great selection of southwestern pottery, rugs, clothes, kitchen supplies, outdoor furnishings…LOTS of stuff. The pricing is very fair. Knowledgeable and friendly staff waiting to assist if needed. Ariette P helped me gather my items, completed the transaction and made sure they were delivered to my truck in the parking lot.

One of my favorite places to shop in Santa Fe. Pottery, clothing, jewelry, blown glass - you name it they got it! The perfect place to bring home something Santa Fe.
