tripadvisorThe new location is much easier to find. The store has a much more open feel. They have many Southwest theme clothes & toys for both dogs & cats. They also have a great selection of treats for your pet.
MoreTech Tu used to be located in a small neighborhood shopping center. It has been moved to a large, generic mall and lost its charm.
MoreI went with the intention to purchase a southwest collar for my Nefertiny. I bought two. The ladies were very accommodating and the selection was surprising better than I expected. Most pet stores I visit in cities are usually a disappointment, but Teca Tu was pawtacular.
MoreTeca Tu has an impressive variety of quality food, grooming and bedding products but the real draw is their exclusive range of 'Vestido Coats', cut from Southwestern wool trade blankets in hues of turquoise, flame red and soft sage, adorned with silver conchas. $61-$142 depending on the size. They also have items in keeping with the spiritual nature of Santa Fe, like The Original Dog Tarot designed to help you 'Divine The Canine Mind'. I did a One Card Draw for Bodie and pulled The Runt, which sounds off-putting but actually suggests 'Your dog possesses a special talent hidden from view.' Apparently it falls to the owner to shine a spotlight on this dog's special qualities - I hope I'm doing that with my Bodie On The Road website! They also stock little dog shrines, handcrafted by local artist Donna Rosingana, to help you commemorate your Beloved Pet in the most colorful way. I love the idea of lighting a votive candle to give a warm glow to the photo of your lost love. (Price $47.)
MoreI’m from Colorado. I take my dogs everywhere with me. So I scheduled a road trip to visit Canyon Road, famous for art galleries. The town is great, everyone is extremely friendly, and most very where allowed me to take my dogs in and explore. I heard of Teca Tu from one of the gallery owners who had a Springer Spaniel. So of course I had to take my St. Bernard mix and Leonberger mix to check it out. I only visited this store twice before I developed a firm opinion. My one suggestion to anyone passing through or that is a regular customer is to DO YOUR RESEARCH! PROS— You are welcome to bring your furry friends into the store, they have a lot of unique stuff (collars, treats, toys for dogs and cats, car transport items, etc.), they will price match items so LOOK IT UP ONLINE, the staff is very friendly, they can ship (for extra charge and insurance based on the values of your order), they are also willing to order things into the store for your convenience and they have adoption events (all listed on their website’s events page http://www.tecatu.com/pages/events) CONS— They increase their products in value anywhere from 30%-50% (SEARCH ONLINE PRICES), they display items that are either out of stock/production or not for sale, navigating around the store’s aisle can be tricky because they are small, cluttered and can be congested with other furry friends perusing.
