Went to see KT Tunsall there. Aside from the very cheap tickets (don't understand why so cheap) the show and the venue was amazing.Nice comfortable seating. Plenty of free parking. Easy to get to.Net-net: This place is a gem

Although we were only there briefly, the part of Escondido that we saw was a bit on the rundown side. We stayed at the Springhill Suites by Marriott, which was a decent hotel with a very mediocre complimentary breakfast. It was the highest rated in the town. For a one night stay and amenities offered, I thought the price was too high. Attended the Old Crow Medicine Show concert at the California Center for the Arts Escondido. This venue is curated in that it is a bit older and could use some updating. They advertise it as a world class sound system. I have listened to live music around the country and was disappointed in the quality of the sound for this show. The volume was too high and the imbalance between instrumentation and vocal made it hard to hear the words to the songs. It was better when they played acoustic. At $75/seat the show was a good value for this band, but, given the sound I would likely pass on future shows at this venue.

Our family enjoyed a show here while visiting from out-of-state. Great public park just outside with lots of family friendly activities to kill time while waiting for the doors to open.

We loved it. The dances were phenomenal and entertaining. We want to come back next year since they change things each year. They have traditional regional dances and dances retelling Chinese myth. My wife and sister in law are both dancers and they found it to be great. It reminded me of a wonderful performance in Mexico at an amusement park called Xcaret.Guess what, it is done by a religious group. They have a couple songs where they view non religiousness as a bad thing and say that evolution and atheism is dangerous. They don't say anything about homosexuality or vaccinations in the performance. They do show depictions of creation and the end of the world as is in line with their beliefs. Even though I don't believe what they do, I can appreciate a wonderful performance.I need to correct some of the falsehoods people have said in other reviews:1) the dances are bad and all the same with no tricks or gymnasticsThere are all sorts of jumps and tumbles. I found each dance unique and engaging. I'm not a dancer, and can find dances boring at times, but was engaged2) its hateful and distastefulGuess what, China does all sorts of bad things. Shocking. They talk about discrimination in China to the point of death and torture. If you don't believe this, ask the Uigurs, Tibet, or basically any religious group in China.3) history and culture are interlocked with religion. Whether or not you believe it, you can't tell history without there being some people who believe in a god or gods. I'm not saying everyone was or that it was right or wrong, just that it was there. So in a couple dances you have a view from a religious perspective. Guess what? Any group will looks at history through their own perspective, religious or not.My wife and I lived in Hong Kong, for a time. We had travelled into mainland china and met all kinds of people who had relatives disappear and be taken away and never seen again.I may not believe in Greek mythology, but I would watch a play about it any day. I would watch Muslim, Jewish, Hindu, Christian, etc stories any day. It's a story. It's history. It's humanity. And finally, maybe, just maybe if China doesn't like something, that may be the best sign that it's a good thing for free thought and liberty. So many reviews make it sound like you are paying to go to a religious study when it's 95% dance and 5% insight into a different religion

Avoid this place!!!!Homeless and drug addicts living in cars and loitering in the parking lot and surrounding areas. Old buildings with a musty smell. The smell and sight of Human waste, litter and drug paraphernalia between the parking lot and venue. The whole city as well, hotels are horrible with the same issue. Cars are frequently broken into or having their catalytic converters stolen. There are much better venues in San Diego….
