A three night stay for a special birthday. Booked online and pre-pay. The nature of the industrial building conversion was the first draw along with easy walking distance the lovely Mississippi River just 5 minutes away - the latter offering a lot of pleasant riverside walking. -- Arrival and greeting warm and welcoming. Two minor issues with room were resolved. Room spacious and well lit. Wish there was one overhead light rather than a lot of accent ones - and also a better desk set up. Minor details. Expected it to be busy and a bit noisy Friday and Saturday - there is a fun rain, waves etc mini machine in the room that does drown it out for early bed goers - but the wedding events in the building ended at the prescribed time. --- Off site parking was good and efficient, albeit typical city valet cost. One of the valets - wore glasses - was exceptional - I watched him literally sprint to one street over to get the next vehicle - one after another with a wedding check out. If there IS a wedding etc - allow an extra 10 minutes for the valet than advertised - a lot of cars to be moved around. Then you won't be disappointed with a wait. -- The roof top - that is the fun-fun part of the hotel. A nice bar, bar snack food and light bites, very well staffed on busy nights. The plunge pool, albeit a touch dated, was VERY clean and towels available though the adjacent sauna. Sauna nice and big - needs a couple of the floor boards maintained please - but overall nice. Should be fixed for the type property this is. The one other suggestion - if you go into the bar to get a drink to bring out to the roof plunge pool area - have a sign to remind you to bring your key as you will lock yourself out from returning and then a bartender has to be pulled away to help. --- Only had breakfast for meals there and a snack on roof - and the AM has coffee in the lobby was complimentary. The one item lacking was being able to buy large bottles of water ($7 of the little ones rather steep) - some folk exercise a lot or are non alcohol drinkers and it was a touch of a struggle to get reasonably priced water bottles (tap water mostly ok). Nowhere in walking distance to buy water at night and with car in valet a hassle to get it late at night --- Elevators moved swiftly even with a very busy, wedding laden, hotel. In the evening, the two security guards were helping calling the elevators and getting folk on and off and making sure only guests who belonged there were in the elevator. Overall, this was a good stay and would recommend it.

Pricey but great location, quiet enough room, good service with a few glitches. 8 % of the population, including a great many travelers, have asthma. I hope that more hotels come to realize that some of them (me) don't book a room without an air purifier provided in the room.

Stayed at the Hewing and went to the rooftop concert of Davina and the Vagabonds. Great show, loved the craft cocktails and food at Tullibee, and the overnight stay in the hotel. The room we had was #313. It was quiet and very comfortable. The staff there is extremely accommodating and helpful. We have stayed there before and will be back again.

The Hewing is a very cool hotel. The room was cozy, the bed was comfortable and the shower was awesome. We also loved the location of the hotel. I had no problem walking around and exploring the city.

Love this hotel with the rooftop hot tub. We kind of need an exterior room from.now on so we can gage the time outside sunlight helps but overall rooms are very clean and we never even turned on the TV.
