There is a war memorial plaque out front, and some lawyers on the steps waiting to meet their clients. Official business happens here. And it looks as though this building may have been from the WPA era. Very important for the county.

I walked by a few times during my stay and was somewhat surprised by all of the activity around. The rest of the downtown business area was quiet but around the courthouse there were people coming and going. It has a real presence a heft. And it also functions.

Washoe Courthouse is a classical building that was built back in 1912 and this is where many of the most famous marriages and divorces happen. Busiest in America!

The big impressive building on Virginia Street. I walked past it and it was indeed bigger than just about everything around it. But not particularly beautiful, so tourists don't need to come here.

I drove by a couple of times and admired the impressive architecture. One of the most notable buildings downtown way more pleasant than the usual casino architecture.
