One World believes it is the responsibility of all the important adults in a child's life to guide & teach the child in a positive way. Each child grows & learns in a sequential, logical order while developing cognitive, emotional, language, motor, & social skills. Children are given the opportunity to experiment, explore, create, question, build, & share. We believe in Howard Gardner's theory of multiple intelligences that all children need to be treated as unique individuals that have different learning styles. Each classroom provides different play areas for children to play alone, with a friend, or in a small group of children. Teachers supervise, encourage, & find teachable moments. Parents, teachers, & students work together in treating everyone with respect & kindness. Teacher guide children by setting limits, using active listening, & positive verbal interaction to help with problem solving. Teachers indirectly guide children using routines & a well-organized classroom environment. Our center's ratios are lower than Washoe County's regulations. All of our teachers have a mixture of education & experience & continuously learn about children. Our staff participates in more classes & workshops than are required by the county licensing regulations. Our students are the priority &our goal is to instill the joy of learning in our children for life.
