Cara is lovely in design, great location, has fabulous valet staff, and the front desk staff was very nice. There was a lot of thought that went into their remodel and the attention to details are lovely. However, if you’re looking for a cute, quiet getaway, this is NOT the location for you. The restaurant comes first here. They appear to cater to large parties and birthday parties, rather than intimate dinners. It is loud. There was a party when we arrived of 8+ people and kids SCREAMING at the top of their lungs outside our room. This went on for hours. They were yelling and singing and the kids were running around unsupervised. You would have thought we were at a Chuck E Cheese. The volume of the music they play is also incredibly loud. I suppose the party had to scream to hear themselves over the music. The party finally ended and things were quieter (except for the music)… but at 7:15am we were woken up by a literal leaf blower outside our door and clanking of dishes as the restaurant was getting set up for the day. You will not be able to sleep in here. We were on the main floor and you could hear every step above you as if a 115 pound person was an elephant. Night two was exactly the same. We were trying to watch a movie in our room and it was so loud right outside our door that we had to have the volume all the way up. Also, if you are sensitive of scents, do know they use super strong aromas around the hotel and the rooms. We got used to it, but the smell was pretty bad to us. Our second morning was exactly the same. 7:15 came and so did the leaf blower and clanking dishes. Now don’t get me wrong. The workers are lovely and doing their job. However it’s management and the owners that should warn you that they instruct their staff to do this. Room service was good, but comes with hefty price tag. Again, I want to stress the staff is lovely. But the decisions form the owners/managers on how the place is managed is where the problems lie. So, if you don’t mind kids screaming outside your door at night, an 7am leaf blower wake-up call, and music as loud as a concert, this is the place for you! You can sleep when you’re ☠️.

This hotel was a little piece of magic in LA! The front desk staff was welcoming, accommodating, and so helpful! The support staff always had a smile and our rooms were always clean. The rooms are clean, more spacious than expected, and I loved the balcony view!

On the outskirts of Los Feliz just South of historic Griffith Park, exists a calming retreat known as Cara. On Western Avenue just above Hollywood Blvd, Cara is hidden with the exception of a lone valet umbrella. We found ourselves having to travel a few times a month from Fresno and needed a place to stay not far from Silverlake with manageable pricing. Simple yet sophisticated, abuzz with activity but in a hip, vibey way, Cara is clean and inviting with staff (Cheyanne, Brain, Mason) who remember you visit to visit. Rooms are intimate, tasteful and quiet once the enjoyable, live music ceases. The restaurant, with tables lining the reflecting pool, has a sophisticated menu and nothing ordered so far has missed the mark. All servers have been top notch with Josie being a standout. Until our commitment in the area ends, we will continue to make Cara our home away from home. We appreciate that this haven amid the hubbub exists.
