This is an amazing COMMUNITY project -- residents of all ages painted the bits of tile under the direction of artists -- taking an old cement, circular water clarifier and turning it into a work of art. It was done about a dozen years ago, and has been kept up all these years, including even weed pulling! It is a very short walk off of Hwy 36, as you go west into the town of Lyons. The small parking lot is for what is called Black Bear Hole, where kayaking can be done, or wading. Cross the lovely bridge to the art work. (or continue on down the trail for a walk). You could spend more than an hour just studying the different things. You can discover Zodiac signs, birds from the area, nature objects, etc. All Very cleverly done -- both modern and yet identifiable.

Hidden gem but be prepared to hunt a bit. First off GPS or google maps takes you to Main Street and it is nowhere near there. Asked locals and many didn’t know. We drove to Bohn Park and asked the attendant and he said to park in lot and walk along the creek under the underpass following gravel trail. After about 5 min walk we found it. Worth a quick stop if you’re in the area and enjoy local art.

We pulled over to walk along St. Vrain Creek and found this amazing work of love on the other side of the creek. It’s easily accessible and truly deserves some time to look into the details of the mosaic work.

This celebration of community creativity is a must see in Lyons. Landscaping - soon to be added - will be the cherry on top. As I understand it - this was 10 years worth of visionary effort by two exceptional artists in town... huge props to them & their volunteers for a point of pride for the region!
