tripadvisorExcellent Day; started 10am cloudy with sun breaks during the uphill climb. Felt a breeze when trail turned back towards the lake. Went 1.5 miles in and back. It was a lovely day! Met a few families and solo hikers.
MoreMy wife and I enjoyed hiking the Twin Peaks Trail overlooking Eklutna Lake last weekend. The Fall colors were out and the weather was great but the Blue Berries were a little past their prime.
MoreThis trail starts at Eklutna lake, is a 5 miles round trip always ascending 600 mts that means some parts high demanding and not appropiate for everybody. The first part in inside the wild forest, only one point to see the lake, nice view, more or less in the midle of the trail. When the trail ends they are some paths but nothing interesting. We spent around 2h, 1h15 up and 45' descending
MoreEven if you don't go on the trail, visit the National Forrest and hang out around the lake. These is kayaks you can rent, a stream that the kids can play in. The area is so picturesque. People have made tepees with dead wood around the lake and the kids have a blast playing in them.
MoreNice scenic hike on trail path. Once you clear the forest, you will be rewarded with lovely views of the Eklutna lake. The day we went was a bit chilly before 11am so be sure to wear layers. We didn't encounter too many people.
