We had a really nice stay at Luxe Sunset Boulevard Hotel. The room was spacious, clean, and comfortable, and the property was quiet and peaceful. The pool was a welcome break from the LA heat!We had dinner at the hotel and were grateful that the team took the time to understand our dietary restrictions and prepare Jain food for us. Junior, our server, was particularly friendly and accommodating. The hotel is also just a short drive from the Getty Center, a lovely art museum with works by Van Gogh, Monet, Rembrandt, and others.

This place is Luxe no more. This place is expensive, and stuff literally falling apart. Staying in a hotel room is all about the details, and the details here stink. The bed was like a marshmallow, the towels just barely better than a healthclub, the room was painted in a dark brown and was so dark I couldn't see in the room. One lamp in the room and one ceiling light. There was no desk or desk chair. There was a round table in my room that was so sticky from years of furniture polish or paint that I had to put a towel over it to use it. The food from room service took over 90 minute to arrive, and it was medium warm (ordered a chicken quesadilla). The pool need a redo, the ladder was breaking apart. The deck furniture is old, mismatched, and sun tattered. There was no poolside service (it was advertised as being available..)-- no one ever came ask if we needed any food or drinks. While this hotel is in a great location, it is very very outdated and requires some updates.

Honestly, this hotel from start to finish was pretty terrible. The receptionist was on her cell phone and seemingly annoyed that I interrupted her personal call when I was checking in. My room wasn't ready, which was fine, so I asked for the location of the restaurant. Barely looking up she pointed to the general vicinity. I walked over to the restaurant and it took legit 7 minutes for someone to acknowledge me standing there for a table at lunch time. It was not busy. Lunch food was fine. I had to meet a business associate for coffee and the only place for coffee was at the bar - and there was no bartender. So after waiting for 20 minutes or so, I got up, walked to the receptionist and asked if anyone was coming in (there were several folks in the bar waiting for service). Bartender finally showed up, gave us lukewarm coffee with no milk or sugar. We waited so long in the first place we gave up and drank it black. When my room was ready, I was given a room up the hill near the cabanas. They have to drive you up there b/c there is no sidewalk to walk up the hill. Very annoying, honestly. The property is totally rundown. The pool is outside of these rooms and the pillows and seating were all askew. There was no place to grab a drink and it just looked unkempt. I had to find my way to the room with my suitcase because they just drop you off and you wander around to find it. When i got to the building where my room was, it reminded me of a drive up motel in the 70s and nothing had been updated since then. The whole building is dark and looks like it hasn't been touched in decades. My room is large but the carpet is stained, the bathroom tiles are cracked and the grout is brown. There are motel-6 type shampoo and lotion in the bathroom and that is it. The cabinets in the bathroom are chipped and won't even close properly. The sliding glass doors are old and are hard to open. The room is just depressing. Every time you want to go to the main hotel, they have to drive you down the hill. I went for breakfast this am and was seating right away but then I waited for 20 minutes for coffee- and only because I called a waiter over to order it. Asked for water, never got it. My food, once arrived was literally thrown on the plate. So bizarre. I then had to wait another 23 minutes for the check. This place is weird and I won't be coming back.

I really did try to like this hotel, but there’s absolutely no way we would stay here again. It’s a tired, dirty and lacklustre place where we didn’t feel welcome at all. The staff - aside from the British guy - were not friendly or helpful. One example of this is when I went down to complain about our room being next to a noisy generator room. The guy said he would bring me some earplugs but didn’t. The room was so so noisy. The door was also broken and in my view not secure either. A day later an extra bolt was added but we still had to sleep there the first night with a wobbly and insecure lock. The front desk was often unmanned and the phone in our room didn’t work. So we gave up on chasing up our issues raised and preferred to spend time outside of the hotel entirely. It is certainly not a place for children! So many breakable things in arms reach and a real lack of hospitality towards families The hotel is very odd in the sense that the pool is at the top of a very steep hill in a separate area. You can get driven up on a cart or walk. The walk is not safe as there’s no walk way and cars were coming left right and centre. I was told I had 25 dollars free credit to use at the restaurant by one staff member but upon checking out I was told by a different staff member that I didn’t. Confusing! The room smelt damp and musty and the walls were extremely thin and no where near sound proof. I got woken up by guests retiring to their rooms - they were also complaining about there being trash left in their rooms Additonally, the restrooms were clearly not cleaned regularly and one toilet was absolutely covered in excrement. The coffee in the room was awful and there is no where to apparently grab coffee in the morning either - so be prepared to bring your own, or - in my advice - give this hotel a miss all together and go somewhere with genuine service The location is the only positive.
