Located at the back of George Snow Park the Serenoa Glade preserve is nine acres in size and is open 8 AM to sunset. It sits on the line between the Atlantic Coastal Ridge and the pine flatwoods where the Everglades used to be before the early 1900's. The name of this preserve is taken from the scientific name of the saw palmetto that is found in this area, serenoa repens. There is a paved path that goes through the scrub and pine flatwoods. This path is wheelchair accessible. There is also a small portion of dirt path that leaves the paved trail and reconnects to it. There is a covered picnic pavilion if you would like to bring food with you. I saw a lot of dragonflies, lizards, and small birds. The highlight for me was seeing a bright red cardinal hopping around in a tree. Although short the walk was a very nice one. You also have all of the amenities at George Snow park like the tennis court, basketball court, playground, bathrooms, and water fountain. On the day I visited a lot of people were enjoying the park facilities as well as the trail. If you are in the area it is worth a visit.

Serenoa Glade Preserve is actually inside a local City of Boca Raton park that has tennis courts and a picnic table. Inside the grounds there is a wildlife refuge that has a beautiful trail and scrub area. If you are into taking a hike or birdwatching, it attracts migrating warblers and other migrating birds. Not well known but I recommend including it on your birdwatching list.
