We had our 4 year old granddaughter for Friday and Saturday night, so we decided to take her to Mahaffey Farms Airbnb for a stay on a working farm. Our gracious host, Sandra, gave us a wonderful tour Saturday morning, showing us chicks, pigs, and cattle. We later visited their farm store to restock our supply of Mahaffey products and saw the laying hens with their Great Pyrannees dog protectors. Sandra serves a wonderful breakfast with bacon, sausage, and eggs from their farm. You'll provide your lunch and supper, but the town of Haughton is right down the highway with a good selection of choices. The 100+ year old farmhouse is very clean and comfortable. You won't find trendy and updated accommodations here. You will find a very comfortable bed, a deep tub, a relaxing living room, and a long and deep closed-in porch with screened windows, a loveseat and chair with overstuffed cushions, a dining table and chairs, and a quilt-covered single bed on an iron frame, perfect for reading or napping. We kept commenting how this house was just like visiting country homes of our childhood, especially for my wife whose grandparents had a dairy farm. For those who are interested, this is a sustainable farm, with the farmhouse served by solar panels on the roof. The farm uses best-practices in humanely raising and processing their animals for market. We had a lovely weekend at Mahaffey Farms and enjoyed every minute of it.

My daughter and I took a trip to the Shreveport area and decided to stay at the Mahaffey Farmhouse. It was such a nice change of pace. The owner/host is very sweet and accommodating. The farm is close to the city, if you need to go into town. However, we were content relaxing at the house. Another great thing about staying here is the farm-to-table breakfast that the host (Sandra) cooked.

Best place ever on a quite farm with an excellent hostess. Sandra, You are the hostess with the mostest!!

Mahaffey Farms has a farm stand that is open on Saturday mornings. They are more than happy to give you a tour of the farm and it's a really great family activity to do with the kids. Plus you can buy some of their great pasture raised beef, chicken, and pork as well as organically grown vegetables.
