tripadvisorThis is the second time we've stayed at the Shire Suite at the White Lotus Eco Spa Retreat, and both times have been great. It's a wonderfully cozy spot, and the property itself is lovely. So much to see and explore! It's a very beautiful, quiet area that isn't too far from town with a charming little coffee shop (Maybelle's on Main) and all your basic necessities. Charlottesville is about a 40-minute drive, which isn't bad. We intend to come back every year for our anniversary. Looking forward to next year!
MoreThis property was misrepresented and did not meet our expectations. We booked the Castle Suite for two nights - Self check in with minimal info about the property.- The room itself was ok, but we did not feel safe navigating the step down to the bathroom without anything to hold onto.- Very dark at night and no flashlight provided to get anywhere on the property safely.- We we’re told that the plunge pool was not available, but the sign on the sauna door(Nudist property) was never advertised or we would not have booked here.- Hot tub was way out on the property and no instructions for use or how to access were available.- Communal kitchen refrigerator/freezer was jam-packed with food that looked like it had been there a long time! No continental breakfast anywhere to be found. Glad we brought snacks. Very remote location.- The rest of the Castle building was very uninviting…nothing there!- We ended upheaving after one night and requesting a refund for the second night which was declined.-Only bright spot was the proximity to some nice wineries and the Shenandoah valley.
MoreThis is a great place if you're looking for a hobbit house, a treehouse, or a cozy log cabin near Shenandoah National Park and Charlottesville. We were also not too far from the Blue Ridge Parkway, so I highly recommend taking a ride and enjoying the stunning view.
MoreI don’t know how the reviews aren’t all 5-stars, especially on value, but I guess I can only really speak for the Hobbit House. We’ve been so comfy in our hobbit hole we haven’t ventured out to the other areas. Beautifully constructed, spacious, immaculately clean, gorgeous views of nature. The perfect place if you need some deep relaxation in the woods but don’t want the hassle of camping. Just pull up with some groceries and you’re set. I could stay here forever. If we lived closer we would come back regularly.
MoreThe setting caught us off guard from what we expected but change your expectations and it's a great experience! Not a resort, think eclectic cabins. There are people who stay there long term, they're very helpful. Free roaming nice cats.
