Historic house, experiential dining. The china does not match. That is the first thing you notice, before the menu, before the piano, before the lobster bisque arrives and you understand why three people told you to order it. The Rose Plantation is a 1917 lakefront estate on Fountain Lake in Fruitland Park where Dave and Diana Andrews built Lake County's only dress code Americana dinner because they believed the house deserved one. Chef Jorge's seasonal kitchen breaks down every protein in-house. The bisque built the reputation. The Delmonico steak and rack of lamb anchor the evening. Lunch brings the blueberry grilled cheese and a house-ground burger through the same door for a different crowd. Friday and Saturday, stride piano on the grand. Midweek, acoustic guitar between courses. A private dining room seats 2 to 6 for a Chef's Experience with a dedicated server. Four lakefront acres near The Villages host weddings when the occasion outgrows the room.
