Fisherman's Wharf remains one of San Francisco's most popular tourist destinations. The Wharf consists of a long, waterfront row of seafood restaurants, street vendors, souvenir stores and beautiful ocean scenery. Fisherman's Wharf was originally a major fishing pier, and although San Francisco fishing industry is alive and well, it mainly appeals to the masses as a tourist sight. Some of the wharf's main attractions include Pier 39, Ghirardelli Square, Musee Mecanique and Madame Tussauds among many others. The wharf's shores are beautified by the presence of the majestic Balao-class submarine USS Pampanito. Parking is limited on the wharf itself so parking downtown would be highly recommended.

Please do not listen to those naysayers who give you the rote review of bad food, too touristy etc. I say so what - It's an iconic place for a reason - it's fun!!! Ignore the snobs and go. And most definitely you can get excellent food here as there are many independent restaurants here that serve really good seafood dishes.
MoreWe dined here for the first time on a Monday at lunch. The scallops on my wife’s entrée were huge and delicious. My Shrimp Scampi entrée was equal equally well prepared and very tasty. All of our dishes were very reasonably priced. We will definitely return when in the area next time.
MoreSuch a sad experience. If I were visiting SF for the first or only time I would avoid this place at all costs. All it really consists of are touristy food places (all of which are below average) and dessert shops. Avoid the crowds and craziness and go elsewhere in the city to actually enjoy and see what SF is about.
MoreFishermen's Wharf has a unique vibe, but it's a little bit touristy. Don't make a standalone trip here; just combine it with Alcatraz Island and Golden Gate Bridge nearby.
MoreHard to say what the best part of our stay was.Was it housekeepers stealing an irreplaceable piece of family folkart from our room?Or was it the restaurant trying to sneak about $500 in extra charges on our account?Yes, we notified hotel management about the missing item. Seems obvious to me that they considered this something that just happens at this hotel. Nothing was done. And the fraudulent restaurant charges were eventually removed.It's a nice location if you're visiting San Francisco for a few days.But there are many hotels in the area. Maybe some of them treat their guests a little better?
