Declared a National Historic Site in 1986, this collection of 14 buildings is the legacy of Elbert Hubbard, the visionary writer and printer who more than 100 years ago founded a utopian arts and crafts community based on the principles of the medieval guilds. Located in the Village of East Aurora about 30 minutes south of downtown Buffalo, the campus includes such buildings as the recently renovated Roycroft Inn, and the Roycroft Shops. Guided tours of the campus are available July-September daily by appointment; the fees go towards building restorations.

tripadvisorEnjoyed wandering through the various buildings. Especially enjoyed the Print Shop. Several antique stores on the campus, as well as a large gift shop.
MoreLunch at the Inn was charming, but the food was moderate at best. Our tour guide was terrible, boring, confused and very long winded, while providing nothing of real interest. We paid $25 apiece, and would have seen more on our own. We even missed the gift shop, which may have held interest for us. I had been here about 15 years ago, and saw much more.
MoreLovely campus. The details are everywhere and everything is art... except the buildings, crafts, antique market, etc. are all wonderful. There is an artisan ice cream stand next door that is phenomenal.
MoreThis is a historical treasure worth learning more about. The tour is worth it and emersive. Paul was our docent and did a fabulous job. Our safety was well protected, much was outside and we enjoyed despite during virus-times and it's challenges. The Roycroft story and life goals seem very relevant today and we are grateful so many have worked to preserve this place and their stories.
MoreEnjoy a few hours touring the campus and shops . Wide variety to wander through. If still have time grad lunch at the Roycroft Inn and try for the porch if it's a nice day...Call for a reservation!
