Reviews
tripadvisorWe enjoyed our recent stay at Old Town Inn. Our room was clean and comfortable. The staff was welcoming and most helpful. Great location for everything to experience in San Diego.
MoreHeadlines - Truly shocking. Just say no! I arrived just before the stated earliest check in time on a Friday afternoon. It was a little off-putting finding out that the hotel was located in what can only be called a mostly abandoned industrial estate. I asked Luke, the receptionist, for a quiet room if possible and his reply was terse, at best - all of our rooms are booked and you get what is left. Which seemed odd, given that the car park was less than half full and, as I said, I had arrived a little before the stated check in time. What was left was a room literally on the pavement next to a major highway. I'm all for convenient access to the roads, but this was ridiculous. The noise was horrendous. The soundproofing for the room was non-existent. I hoped that the road would quieten down and that sleep would come. But no - the road was busy until the very early hours. And to add to the fun, the people in the room next door decided they would stay up chatting until 3am. All plainly audible through the paper thin walls. When I visited with reception early the next morning having had feck all sleep to point out the various issues, I was told I could have been given ear plugs if I'd asked, I could have complained about the other guests, but most importantly, that I had been put in the room that was usually allocated to deaf people - there are two such rooms should you have such a disability for future reference. But I don't. When I asked about the possibility of moving to another room, I was told there were no others available. I asked if I could cancel the reservation for the remaining two nights and was told that was not the concern of the hotel, as I had booked through Expedia. So, they would do nothing to help me in any way. Now, fortunately, Expedia took pity on me and refunded the other two nights, so I was then able to go book a proper hotel, with rooms fit for purpose and staff who actually gave a toss. What was then further remarkable was the fact that as I was leaving (passing by the room of my late night neighbours who had their do not disturb sign on the door - obviously, sleeping off their late night chatting), other residents were also packing up and leaving, so the lie about there being no other rooms available was shown in all it's glory.Seriously, if you are visiting San Diego (and it is a lovely city) avoid this inn like it's got AIDS. I have never had such an abysmal experience staying away - ever. They should be ashamed - truly ashamed.
