tripadvisorThe theater is old and small. You’re cramped in your seats. There is no elevator access, and so many steps. The theater ushers were extremely unwelcoming. They rushed you in and wouldn’t give you a program until you were at your seat. It was a horrible rainy day and we were trying to get situated and placed our program on the balcony rail. There was someone there instantly to reprimand us not to do that. We tried to explain we were just getting situated with wet coats. They acted like a program falling over would hit someone in the head and cause of fatality. Really!!My sister-in-law had a leg injury and had to climb three flights of steps to get to our seats with no elevator access, and they were not at all concerned. The majestic is not majestic and needs an overhaul badly.
MoreBeautiful theater. Front row balcony gave us a great view of the stage. Good sound. A little chilly. Lots of steps to get up.
MoreWe went to see a show today and my friend with ms was discriminated against. She was not provided with a handicap accesible seat or any accommodations. In fact we were surrounded by security and kicked out in the rain. There were empty seats they could have put us in. They wouldn't refund our money either. Noone would even give us a manager name to complain to.
MoreGorgeous historic theater right across the street from Sardi's and just a few doors down from Junior's. This was the main event for my trip to New York...to see Audra McDonald in Gypsy, and it totally lived up to my expectations. The only small annoyance was that the ushers felt it was necessary to scold, reprimand, etc., people about not using their cell phones during the performance. I know this needs to be done, but they could've been nicer about it.
MoreThe first thing I noticed outside of the theater is the architecture. Inside the theater is beautifully decorated. The staff is present and ready to guide you to your seat. The restrooms are located on the lower level. The theater seats are comfortable which is rare a the acoustics are great. I don’t think there’s a bad seat in the house the way the stage is situated. We enjoyed the performance of Gypsy staring the great Audra McDonald.
