I had an extremely disappointing and frustrating experience with management at Fit Mission Beach, specifically with the General Manager, Eric. Before moving out of state, I went into the gym in person to cancel my membership. The front desk employee confirmed that my membership was fully canceled. I trusted that process was handled correctly — only to later discover that I had been continuously charged for six additional months after leaving. When I called the front desk, they were understanding and acknowledged the situation, reassuring me that a refund would be issued. However, when I was connected with Eric, the experience took a completely different turn.Eric was unprofessional, raised his voice, and immediately placed blame on me, claiming that in-person cancellations are not allowed — despite that being exactly what I was instructed to do by their staff. Instead of taking accountability for the error, he was dismissive and argumentative, using a tone that felt belittling and inappropriate. It took multiple calls and over 10 minutes of back-and-forth just to receive a partial refund, and even then, I was still charged for two months that should have been fully refunded. I should not have had to argue to get my own money back for a mistake on their end. This experience was incredibly frustrating and honestly upsetting. It’s disappointing because I genuinely liked the gym itself, but the lack of accountability and poor handling by management completely changed my perception.I would strongly caution others to carefully document any membership changes, as this situation was mishandled from start to finish.

I am new to San Diego, and it is my first time being a member at FIT. I had a very humiliating and demeaning experience with Eric Shorter, the manager at the FIT Mission Beach location. The situation began when I was shaving using an electric razor in the locker room. While shaving, a janitor (Javier) came beside me and began snapping photos of me in the mirror. Javier snapped three photos before my shock subsided long enough for me to ask, What are you doing? Javier then tells me Everything is OK, do not worry. I was so confused and uncomfortable, that I just went silent. I approached the janitor again, and he told me that I do not need to worry, I told him, please do not do that. It makes me feel uncomfortable and it is inappropriate. Javier then tells me again Do not worry. After speaking to Javier and still not feeling validated, I went to the steam room. Within 10 mins Eric Shorter opens the steam room door and ask me if I had a situation with the janitor. I explained to Erick, the situation in brief, and asked him if we could speak further when I was dressed. Erick Shorter walked into the steam room and yelled at me to come out now! And that I had no say in this situation. I walked out and the aggression made me feel so uncomfortable, that I walked out of the locker room and into the lobby wearing only a towel and flip-flops. I felt I needed witnesses because I was not sure what was happening. As I walk out in hopes to find support, Erick screams at me to Pack my Sh*T! As I enter the lobby Eric Shorter then steps into my face, less the 1 inch from my face, and continues to yell at me to Pack my fu**ing sh*t.I am in only a towel and frantically look for support, and though the lobby was full of employees no one said anything. I ask him to please step away from me, and out of fear and confusion, I attempt to push Eric Shorter away from me. This only fuels Eric to put his hand on my forehead and physically push my head with his finger. I try to back away and speak to employees, but Eric is still yelling in my face with inches between us. I am scared, embarrassed, and naked. No one helps. Finally, employees step in and give me the card to the General manager, Parker Washington. I call Parker multiple times and receive no reply. This treatment was not justified.I did not disrespect any member of the staff, I only spoke up for a situation that made me feel very uncomfortable and confused. This lead to a man in a position of power (Eric Shorter) bullying me and making me feel so small that I had fear enough to nakedly seek help in the public lobby. My membership was canceled, and I do not know why. I also recently paid my bill and still have three weeks left until the next bill is due. I was not given even a prorated refund. I feel hopeless in this situation, and though I am an adult male, I feel silenced and humiliated. I didn't know what options were available to me, but to post a public review. This experience hurt me deeply. Please be aware of your right to be treated with respect. Thank you for reading.

Wow! I found myself a true gym. Being a member of Equinox when I lived in Los Angeles. I wanted to explore a new gym. My office is in the same building. As I should not have no excuse to go back to the gym. Being a person who enjoys the outdoors and playing tennis. I wanted a gym that easy to get in and out. So I decided to finally go from my from office to check out Fit Athletic Club. Part of my lease agreement included use of the gym membership. After you walk in your are warmly greeted with a nice welcome. I told the receptionist that I was offered a membership for singing my lease. Within couple minutes a person gave me the tour of the gym. After looking around after couple minutes I was sold. The gym is very clean. The big plus was all the equipment was state of the art. No run down equipment. Clean locker room. If you are looking for a gym in the heart of downtown. I would not even think twice of joining Fit Athletic Club. You could not ask for a more friendly staff from A to Z. I can say I found myself a gym that I will use. Thank you to entire staff. Management you have an amazing team that cares about your customers.

I have been a member of the club for over 1 year and I love it. It's very clean and well maintained. The classes and instructors are great, if you love to spin check it out, Donovan on Thursday morning at 6:00 am kills it. I started working out with a trainer at the end of last year, his name is Kris Zelinka. I have had many trainers in my time but none like Kris, he is so much more. Kris really cares about his clients and is very well rounded, he talks nutrition with me, life style and overall health and wellness. I just had shoulder surgery at the beginning of the year and he is instrumental on my rehab, he is very knowledgeable on trends and what will make me better. His latest suggestion for me is cryotherepy, it's so amazing how it takes away my soreness. So, if your looking for a great trainer, go to fit and sign upo with Kris, you wont regret it.
