tripadvisorOmg. No it’s not the Zfrench Riveria. It’s got ocean! It’s got sand and Sun. It’s got a great restaurant. It’s got PARKING that’s a short walk to the beach. It doesn’t have crowds. It doesn’t have liter. It is very well maintained. There is seaweed which is used to naturally replenish the beach. The beach is serviced by what my daughters call hunk lifeguards. I almost hate writing this review because I want to keep this treasure all to myself… oh and those rocks help protect the beach as well as wildlife.
MoreThe beach is quite narrow, especially at high tide. As you approach, a small sign warns, Beware Hidden Rocks—a serious understatement. Instead of just rocks, vast sections of the water are filled with massive submerged boulders, making it extremely difficult to cross. The gaps between them range from two to four feet, creating treacherous footing.I managed to push through, glimpsing even more boulders beneath the deeper water. Fortunately, the ocean was relatively calm, but another challenge was getting back to shore. By the time I did, my legs were covered in half a dozen bleeding scrapes. My wife had alcohol wipes, which I used to clean the wounds.I told the lifeguards that, having visited hundreds of beaches, this was the most dangerous I had ever encountered. They agreed, explaining that past hurricanes had displaced the boulders, rendering the shoreline hazardous for at least a mile in both directions. In my opinion, the boulders should either be removed or the beach permanently closed to swimmers.
MoreThe Lantana Public Beach is a small but nice ocean beach on Atlantic side of the island. A small cafe is located above the beach, with views of the ocean. Note that the parking has a $1.50/hour fee.
MoreSadly this beach has eroded so much that it is gone except at low tide. There is no place to put down a towel or chair. There are rocks just under the surf making swimming very dangerous.
MoreThere was lots of parking with an app or meter. It was a bit of a walk to the beach and there were steps which made pushing our cart difficult. There were showers and restrooms. It’s a holiday weekend and there aren’t too many people it’s quiet here. The water is perfect, just a perfect beach day!
