I had requested an early arrival as I am a senior disabled and talked to the agent that took my reservation. Marie who said she would put this on my reservation to expect Me to be early , at 12:30 in the afternoon I arrived and was told I needed to pay $25 in order to get my room early. I explain about my request when I booked-and but after 20 minutes standing and not feeling well, ithe young clerk put it on anyways , I ended up in the room, not feeling well and left early. Did not spend the night. I am emailing the hotel to ask for a credit no one and I mean no one hasn’t reply to my email very upset for them to charge $25 with the room is empty and ready does not make sense.

I have been gambling at the Silver Reef Casino for years as I have been a Whatcom County resident most of my life. I am mostly a slot player. My honest opinion is that this establishment is NOT the place it was pre-Covid era. Days of high betting and getting decent payouts are long gone. Now, I’m not someone who expects to win each time I visit but it has been getting very discouraging to the point that I will be refraining from taking any of my money to this casino for the foreseeable future. It is so difficult to win compared to how it was before. They are systematically removing all old favorites and replacing them with machines that gorge on money without any give. You have to wonder sometimes how you can come to the casino with a party of 6 people and upon leaving you find that not one of you has left with positive cash flow; it’s becoming very suspicious as time goes forward and one cannot help but question this casino’s integrity. It wouldn’t be that bad if the money generated at this casino was actually allocated properly and fairly to tribal members, but that is a whole other can of worms I won’t be discussing here. The customer service leaves much to be desired as well. The machines are not maintained regularly and you will almost always have an issue with your money or ticket getting stuck in the machines or the machine spits out a ticket with minimal ink and you have to get a new one. Each time an error happens and the corresponding alert button is pushed I recommend going out on the floor and searching for a slot attendant or you will be waiting for a very long time. Another thing that really hurts this place is the overall etiquette of staff, most notably security. Being that the place is no longer 24 hours (another negative) the security staff must set up for money collection with their boxes. I’ll be honest, they have no problem whatsoever with getting in your way or asking you to cash out so they can collect money. This wouldn’t be a problem but as it stands the boxes are placed sometimes two hours before closing on the machines and they start forcing cash outs across the building when there’s over an hour left. What’s more, they will notify everyone 15 minutes before closing via intercom which would be generally okay and helpful if they didn’t start aggressively getting people out 7 minutes in. I really can’t say much of anything positive about this place as it has become a less than savory place to enjoy time with friends. Also you will find in some areas of the casino floor there are foul odors and it actually smells like a busted sewer line in one corner of the place near the bathrooms. I was going to give just one star however the only saving grace of this establishment is that they have really good pizza at the Pizzanini, so I give a score of just 2 stars for the Silver Reef Casino Resort. If you are wanting to gamble I suggest you take your hard earned money elsewhere. 2 stars out of 5.

Accounting department and casino staff members are ignorant of IRS requirements for non-resident citizens, and OUTRIGHT REFUSE to educate themselves. They have set arbitrary rules for handpays that are not compliant with IRS Publication 505. They insist on treating a US citizen that happens to live in Canada, as a non-resident alien and thus provide them with an (incorrect) Non Resident Alien tax form (1042-S) and withhold 30% in taxes, rather than the (correct) W2G supplied to US Citizens with an option of tax withholding.. One phone call to the IRS could have resolved this issue, but it's clear they couldn't be bothered.
