Squirrel Haus Arts is a little off the beaten path but is a great place to see local art that is wonderfully curated. And, the show was free. I found it to be a great exploration even with a nine-year-old in tow. We went to see Beauty in Chaos. All the art reflects the title exceptionally well because each piece mirrors some sort of duality as the show's name suggests. For example, there is a small sculpture of a house that sits in the corner. From first glance, it looks like it is shrewdly pieced together with shards of broken ceramics in random places. However, when you look a little closer you can see the painstaking process it took to place each delicate piece together to add depth and color--there is nothing random about it. And, if you peer inside there are other elements to discover that reflect the beauty in its design and perhaps even the chaos of its inner soul. Other artwork has a similar effect, such as the bust with a house dropped on its head or the paintings purposefully placed on the wall to draw your eyes and focus your attention. It was fun, intriguing and even made for great conversation at dinner later.
