Roswell Cherokee Memorial is a tribute to the region's native Cherokee people who were forcefully evicted from their lands in 1838, and lost their lives in the process. The memorial is located along The Trail of Tears and is part of a project to spread awareness about this historical aspect of the city.

tripadvisorWonderful, moving memorial! Definitely worth a visit. Very informative. What happened to the Cherokees was horrendous.
MoreThere are a good number of Historical Markers in and around the Memorial Stone. Pretty much a mini history lesson about the Cherokee and the ultimate 'mistreatment' ordered by Pres. Andrew Jackson. His order forced about 20,000 Cherokee to leave their territorial home and relocate to Oklahoma territory, what a disgrace and a very dark blot on the United States.
MoreThis is a large rock with a historical plaque on a walking trail. It is informative and tells a bit about the area, but its sort of unremarkable within everything else that is around.
MoreI enjoyed my walking and learning at the same time. Just the information on these rocks and stones about the time before us I was very impressed how it was put together so nicely. 1800's I felt I was visiting it's a great place to bring my son.
MoreAs you walk along the path, you will find large rocks with plaques describing moments in history of the hardships endured by the Cherokee Indians.
