You know, it seems hardly anyone ever takes the time to stop off at these lookouts/parks along the Palisades Parkway - and you really should, because on a fine clement spring day, the views of the Hudson and Manhattan skyline are marvelous and beautiful. It's a great place to stop off and stretch your legs, have a picnic lunch, and stroll along the pathways taking in the views and the sunshine. A true park way! And well worth the time. (So what if you're late for your meeting? Just chalk it up to the traffic and no-one will blink an eye ... )

Loved the views of the George Washington Bridge, Manhattan, the Hudson and the other places that are listed on signs by the cliffs telling you what you are seeing across the water. Stopped here on our motorcycle on our way to Tarrytown and Sleepy Hollow.

This is the first lookout going north on the Palisades Parkway. The views are primarily of the Bronx across the river, including the outlet of the Harlem River, where there is a very low railroad bridge requiring a drawbridge for larger boats and parts of the campus of Columbia University. There are no facilities at this lookout, and no way to turn around and go back to get cheap gas about 2 miles south on the parkway.Views are the name of the game at this lookout. And, they can be quite splendid.
