On a gorgeous fall day the views of the clean clear rushing water and copious rocks are spectacular. There are many pull offs for photos and picnics. Many fly fisher persons were there also

We stopped at the visitors center and enjoyed the Falls and the river. If we comeback we would like to canoe to Lake Champlain. It is well worth the stop. Rafting looked to be fun.

I thought this was going to be a somehow, boring place but I discovered this nature trail and I have been there twice now, in the winter and in the spring. Family owned, very old style of hospitality, the trails are well maintained, the falls are amazing; in the winter it looks mysterious and in the Spring it was so wild. Easy access for all ages, not so crowded; you feel far from the highway even if you are not...then keep going and go visit Ausable Point by Lake Champlain.

We kayaked and canoed up and down the Ausable River several times this past season. It's a great little jaunt out to Lake Champlain and back up the river. It's a quiet little trip that will lead you under train tracks and out to Ausable Point campgrounds. Great photo ops along the way!

We combined these two hikes (about a 10 mile loop) for an enjoyable 6 hour hike with a long stop for lunch at the Rainbow Falls. Took the West River trail to the falls and the East River trail back. Very few people were on the hike and we had the falls to ourselves (we went on a weekday). You could hear the river most of the hike which is always enjoyable.
